Case Study 1

We were approached by a company selling products in the Horticultural Sector to help them improve returns from the Internet. Sales on their existing website had been £4,000 over almost two years. Yet the company had an excellent name for its products and was well known through traditional catalogue sales and marketing. When we appraised their existing website we found that the On-line shop was difficult to buy from and did not show the range of products they had properly.

Their Mail Order Catalogue was a disaster, there was no logical process attached to its design and the clients we asked about it said that the catalogue was a complete nightmare to navigate, but that if you were prepared to take the time to sit down and look through every page you would eventually find what you wanted and then the company delivered good products at good prices.

We took on the website and Mail Order Catalogue, redesigned them, set up an interactive On-line shop and undertook a monthly programme of Internet Marketing and link building.

The results:

  • After our re-design and launch their Internet sales soared from just over £4,000 over two years to over £130,000 in twelve months.
  • The company has now became well known on the Internet and a first port of call for their products; this has built upon its traditional catalogue sales and Internet sales help drive up traditional telephone sales by more than 25% as customers phone to ask questions about products they have seen on line.
  • We completely re-designed the mail order catalogue over a period of 8 months, removed products which could no longer be sold due to changes in legislation, the client finished up with a catalogue that they could navigate as easily as the website and which reflected the customer's needs and a logical and methodological way.
  • Existing and new clients say it is easier to find what they want to buy and promotions help to turn single sales into multiple sales

Case Study 2

The client runs a Guest House in Windermere; the property is small but of good quality and the client was concerned that he was only getting passing trade during and out of season. He wanted to build up the number of visitors that return and book in advance so he could plan better and provide the kind of services they expected of him at the right price.

The hotel has a good name and well appointed rooms so we did some research and found that 85% of visitors to the Lake District went to the Internet to see where they should stay when they decided to pay a visit, be that for business or pleasure. Surprisingly, with that many using the internet as their first port of call to choose accommodation we found that only 42% of Hotels, guest houses and B & B's had an on line presence. A good website would therefore put him ahead of the game.

We worked out a plan and developed the website, much of which is kept up to date and fresh by the client after a little training from us. No need for an eCommerce website – just a good old fashioned marketing website which demonstrates the quality and value for money his business offers. His contact form is continually being completed by potential residents asking for bookings on specific dates...not only from the UK but form all around the world.

Make your Internet Experience a profitable one

But that is not the only legislation your website has to conform to!

All websites must conform to certain Acts and Regulations and it depends on what you are selling or providing information on as to which piece of legislation and mix or regulations you must conform with.

For example, were you aware that from 1st January 2007 your website and email communications must have the following on them.

  • Your company/business name and Full address (A Box Number is not sufficient)
  • Company Registration number if you are incorporated
  • Telephone contact details
  • Vat Number (If you are VAT Registered)
  • Details of any Trade Organisations you are a member of if you use that Trade Organisation's logo.

The above applies to all businesses!!!!!
